ABOUT GENAIE

GenAIe is AIE’s Analysis Unit on AI and Music in the digital era.
A space for research, analysis, and outreach that seeks to understand how new technologies are transforming the music creation process, and how we can engage with them without losing our essence.

We explore the relationship between artificial intelligence, law, and creativity with a clear objective: to protect the added value that only human sensitivity brings to music.

ABOUT AIE

AIE is the management entity for music performers and executant musicians. AIE is a collective, committed and democratic nonprofit society that manages and defends the rights of music performers in Spain and in the rest of Europe, in Latin America and the Caribbean, the US, Asia and in all countries and regions of the world where the intellectual property rights of musicians are ensured and applied.

When a generative artificial intelligence model trains with protected works and
recordings, the main obligation should be placed on those who design, train and market these systems: documenting training sources, respecting reserved rights, obtaining the necessary authorizations, and activating verifiable remuneration mechanisms.

“Text and Data Mining” (TDM) is, in technology’s current state, essential for the functioning and training of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI), since it allows automatic analysis of large volumes of digital information in order to identify patterns and
correlations, which requires making certain copies of works that are potentially protected under copyright.
